THE UNEXAMINED AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL REPORT ON INDIA SUPPLYING ARMS TO ISRAEL
What does a headline like this do? It makes your mind see 2,596 ship-loads of military hardware -- riffles, bombs, bullets, tanks, suddenly leaving India for Israel after the war broke out. That is a massive arms shipment never seen before in history since Richard Nixon's Operation Nickel Grass in 1973 during the Yom Kippur War.
One thing I notice on social media is the ummah and Jew haters will seize on a meme like this one and start sharing without bothering whether it is true or false, right or wrong. This is called biased confirmation and that's how truth gets destroyed and falsehoods get amplified. When adults refuse to compute and accept slogans and headlines for truth, and far worse - spread something they know not, I shudder to think what will happen to our kids.
I like to use this example on how we need to think logically, use our brain righteously since we have been blessed with a working one.
To lazy and susceptible minds, you "ahem" them the Hormuz Strait is closed, they may spill the drinks, but then their minds will shift from maritime vessels to air shipments.
There are 2 statements :
- Amnesty International says India made 2,596 arms shipment.
- India made 2,596 arms shipment.
Both have to be true.
A knee jerk reaction of a good critical thinker is 2,596 shipments is a massive number. As Hormuz Strait is closed, it will have to be air shipment. To make sense of the logistics, a critical thinker will ask what is the time-frame involved. It's roughly 2 years (Oct 2023 to Nov 2025). That would mean 1,298 average flights per year. New Delhi-Tel Aviv long haul commercial flight is only about 250 per year. That means most likely military transport planes were used.
If military transport planes were used, how would the math look like. It would require average 3.6 flights per day every day. How many large planes will be used? Considering the two-way round trip, loading and unloading turn around time, maintenance, I estimate at least a 3 factor requirement. Thus 3.6 x 3 = 10.8 planes need to be committed daily. The Indian Airforce certainly has this capacity. Indian Air Force has 11 long haul heavy lifters, the C-17. It has another 17 numbers of IL-76 that can make the journey but with much lighter loads, means more trips. It has another 11 C-130J and 56 An-32, but these cannot make the long journey. It would be madness to think that India will commit 11 planes for 2 years to lifting of arms to Israel when they have other humanitarian, operational and strategic demands for their transporters.
THEREFORE, NO SHIPS, NO AIRFORCE PLANES. INDIAN AIRFORE NOT INVOLVED.
THEREFORE INDIAN GOVERNMENT DID NOT MAKE 2,596 SHIPMENTS TO ISRAEL.
The critical thinker will return to Amnesty International. The questions to ask are:
- Did Amnesty make the statement?
- What is the period?
- What is their source?
- What is their measurement?
- What is the value?
Yes Amnesty made a report on 30 July 2026
This covers the shipment of military goods from 7 Oct 2023 to 30 Nov 2025.
The data is extracted from "commercially available, shipment-level trade data".
Amnesty said 2,596 shipments. They did not define "shipment"
There is no mention of value.

Akin to one transaction. That is not the case here. A little bit knowledge of shipping is helpful. I have done audits of shipping companies, worked in banks and dealt with import/export operations. Doesn't make me an expert, but I know what I am talking about. Amnesty mentioned "shipment-level trade date" and 6 Harmonised Systems (HS) codes, more specifically HS9301 to HS9305 and HS8710, These codes refer to specific arms. Any component parts will be recorded under the relevant HS code. A ship or a plane carries a manifest which is a record of the cargoes. The manifest comprises of Bills Of Ladings (for maritime) and Air Way Bill (for air freight). Each shipper (exporter) fills up their BOL or AWB. For each item, the HS code is indicated. Before a vessel leaves port or a plane departs from airport, the cargoes are recorded into a registry of HS codes. Each code entry is a data record, a shipment. Thus if an exporter ships 30 items as per the BOL or AWB, but involves only 15 HS code entries, it is recorded as 15 shipments. So in reality, the 2,596 shipments (788 military arms) are not the number of ship loads or plane loads. For example, if a plane manifest has 3 AWB of 3 Indian companies, A has 12 HS code entries, B has 10 HS code entries and C has 15 HS code entries, then the data shows 37 "shipments". In reality, the goods are not massive and delivered by commercial flights. Supposing each AWB involves average 6 HS code entries:
THE 2,596 SHIPMENTS COULD JUST BE 2,596/6 = 433 TRANSACTIONS
THE 788 SHIPMENTS COULD JUST BE 131 TRANSACTIONS.

- 390,516 small arms part for military grade weapons
- 564,970 parts of explosive ordnance (drone warheads, artillery shell casings, and others)
- 298 components of military vehicles.
These are component parts. One count is not one weapon.
For a riffle - the sling is one count, a firing pin is another count, the magazine is yet another count.
For a mortar bomb - the fuse is one count, obturating ring is another count, fin assembly is yet another count.
For military vehicles - guess how many thousand part counts are there?
This is a technique that propaganda exploits. Choose a technically accurate but psychologically loaded unit of measurement. It's hard to see Amnesty is doing advocacy framing or deliberate deception.
THE SHIPMENTS DID NOT START AFTER OCT 7.
The headline and slogan leads the unwary to think after Oct 7, India started supplying Israel with the arms. The truth is, since the 2010s, India and Israel started cooperating in joint arms development and production in the defence industry. Israel arms manufacturers outsourced the lower end of manufacturing parts to Indian companies, or Israeli-Indian joint ventures. So India became embedded in Israel's arms production supply chain. As components suppliers, a constant flow of component parts is nothing extraordinary. That explains for the numerous transactions. No doubt some of the more sensitive companies may be government-owned. But like Temasek, they operate as independent commercial entities.
THE SIZE OF THE SHIPMENT IS PUNY IN $ TERMS
Amnesty tells you 2.596 or 788 "shipments" to exaggerate, making no attempt to convey a sense of size of the value of the goods. In 2024 India's total export to Israel was US$2.13Bn. Of the 6 HS codes mentioned by Amnesty, 5 are grouped under HS Chapter 93 and the one under Chapter 87. Total exports to Israel in 2024 was Chapter 93 - US$56.65Mn, and chapter 87 - $11.42Mn making a total of $86.07Mn. This is a tiny 3.2% of India's export to Israel. For propaganda, 2,596 shipments makes for more powerful impact.
INSINUATIONS
- Amnesty mentions they cannot assess any arms delivery by Indian Airforce transport planes. Government-to-government arms delivery are via military transporters which bypass trade documentation. Whilst this is generally true, it is nothing but high insinuation for a report so serious. But the propaganda damage is done. The gullibles swallowed lock stock and barrel - they are actually much more arms delivered that is not reported!.
- The point of Amnesty's report is to highlight wrongful acts by India facilitating arms delivery to a country charged with committing genocide. This is a blatant insinuation. Amnesty has been screaming at the top of the last Gaza highrise building that Israel is a genocide country. While organizations and every armchair expert ummah and Jew hater may use the term "genocide" in political or humanitarian contexts, the process of legally determining state responsibility is highly formalized. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is the only judicial body with the authority to declare a state or country legally guilty of violating the Genocide Convention. The last time I checked, they have not yet done so.
THE WHOLE POINT IS PROPAGANDA
Nothing will come out of this amnesty report. The whole point is propaganda. and they have won. Amnesty International is not an institution one can treat as politically neutral. It is an advocacy organisation as well as a research organisation. It's purpose is to identify human-rights violations and campaign for changes in government behaviour. That inevitably involves normative judgements.
On Israel-Gaza, Amnesty's recent language has become particularly strong and biased. This particular report describes Israel as committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. It has relied on data provided by Hamas controlled hospitals which the UN itself has called out the errors, it relies on UNCHR personnel in Gaza who has been exposed as moonlighting as Hamas fighters, it quotes the disgraced UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese. Never use an Amnesty proposition as an unquestionable authority on a politically contested proposition. It's findings is nevertheless an important piece of evidence but requires examination.
